FAIR WINDS SAILING GREECE
Employees are the most valuable asset of an organization and their training should be considered as a high priority worthwhile investment. Acknowledging this fact, we offer the following courses:
1. Basic marina operations
This course covers the basic training of the personnel aiming to its familiarization with the marina operations and services. It may function as a “newcomer” course for permanent and seasonal personnel and it applies to dock masters, dockhands, maintenance and security staff, boatyard technicians, fuel attendants and office admin personnel.
Depending on the duties of the participants, the course may include the following modules:
- Customer service
- Berthing/ mooring administration
- Office administration
- Health and personal safety
- Fire prevention
- Harbor Security
- Environmental matters
- Marina maintenance duties
After the successful completion of the course the participants will be able to understand the aforementioned and they will be granted with a certification of achievement.
2. Fundamentals of Marina Management
This course is designed for marina personnel who holds managerial posts and includes the following modules:
- Leadership
- Network and stakeholder management
- The manager’s role
- Business planning and financial management
- Marketing, branding and pricing
- Policies and best practices for marina operation
- Marina law, contracts and insurance liabilities
- Environmental management
- Emergency procedures
- Lessons learned: Dealing with the issues and challenges common at the marina industry
After the successful completion of the course, the participants will be able to understand the aforementioned and they will be granted with a record of training and a certification of achievement.
3. Basic seamanship skills and VHF Radio Communications
This course is designed for the dock-hands, the dock-masters who must effectively communicate with the yacht Captains and assist them when entering / exiting the harbor. It covers the following modules:
- Appropriate and effective use of the VHF radio
- English naval terminology
- Marine phonetic alphabet
- Line handling and knot tying
- Basic understanding of yacht maneuvering
Fair Winds Sailing Greece is a certified American Sailing Association (ASA) Affiliate and recommends that all dock-hands and dock-masters attend the basic “Sailing Made Easy” 101 ASA course and get ASA 101certified.
This course will not only ensure the comprehensive knowledge of the aforementioned but it will also provide an additional seamanship knowledge which will help the dock-hands and the dock-masters to conduct their duties with confidence and competence.
Notes
- All courses are conducted in the English language (or in the Greek upon request) and are to be completed at the participants marina site.
